Christiane Amanpour is going to be the new host of "This Week" on ABC. I have enjoyed watching her reports for years. Amanpour brings an intellectualism that is often missing on Sunday morning shows, and she will also bring a much needed international flavor and context to the news made in the United States. I will definitely start watching the program again, and maybe they will shake up the talking heads that sit around that table while they are at it.
Now if we can just get Rachel at the helm of "Meet the Press...."

The Press won't be met by many if Rachel Maddow is at the table.
Media pigs like "tame" journalists, who will sacrifice depth of coverage for access of coverage. Softball questions, or no follow up to glaringly obvious side-stepping, will be the norm.
Those out to perpetuate power in the hands of blue eyed white men (run the ethnic and eye color check, and you'll find it's creepy how disproportionally political and corporate leaders overwhelmingly fall into those two combined categories, even here in 2010), do not want to be questioned or revealed by an articulate woman, let alone an open lesbian.
So interviews will be sought out amongst the padded dross of acceptable media outlets, in hopes of diluting and drowning out intelligence, reasoning, and thorough research.
Rachel Maddow will always shine brighter, but it doesn't mean we won't have to suffer a barrage of flash-in-the-pan "journalists" and other related things which glitter (wait until Palin hosts her own show).
I'm just sayin'...
Congratulations to Ms. Amanpour!
She is credible and offers us a more global perspective than the collective brain trust at Fox.
Someone at ABC News made the right hire.
I'm just sayin'...
